How we source

Citations in our articles are organized in three buckets:

Primary sources

The original record: declassified government documents, court filings, sworn testimony, FOIA-released archives, autopsy reports, and direct corporate correspondence.

Secondary sources

Investigative journalism, books, documentaries — pieces that synthesize and analyze the primary record.

Academic sources

Peer-reviewed studies and university-press monographs.

Every published article has at least five independent sources and at least one primary source for each "confirmed" claim.
